The Special Issue titled "Energy Transition, Climate Governance, and Sustainable Development in a Changing Global Economy" aims to explore the complex interactions between energy systems, climate governance, and sustainable economic development in the context of accelerating global environmental challenges. As countries face increasing pressure to meet climate commitments and transition toward low-carbon energy systems, effective governance frameworks, innovative policy instruments, and sustainable investment strategies have become essential for achieving long-term environmental and economic stability.
This Special Issue seeks to advance the understanding of how national and international governance mechanisms, regulatory policies, and financial instruments influence the transition from fossil-fuel–based systems to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. It also aims to examine the economic, environmental, and social implications of energy transition, particularly in emerging and developing economies.
We welcome high-quality theoretical and empirical contributions that employ diverse methodological approaches, including econometric analysis, policy evaluation, simulation modeling, case studies, and interdisciplinary analytical frameworks. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, climate governance and environmental policy, renewable energy transition, green finance and sustainable investment, technological innovation for low-carbon development, energy security and sustainability, and the socio-economic impacts of climate change mitigation strategies.
By bringing together cutting-edge research from scholars and policymakers, this Special Issue aims to provide valuable insights for advancing sustainable development and accelerating the global transition toward cleaner and more resilient energy systems.
